To be honest, I dont realy care about his diabetes. After his little retort about those with HIV, I lost all respect for him. HIV is not a "gay" disease. I have a loved one (not gay) with this and I cant believe he thinks that they shouldnt be able to get help paying for meds that keep them alive. Also this person got from someone they married who was positive (they knew they were) and didnt say anything. How is that for gay and not deserving? Screw his diabetes, im glad he has it

It depends on the type of diabetes you have. I believe Huckabee has type 2 which can be managed through diet and exercise.

There are cases of people who have lost ~100 lbs and the symptoms of their diabetes disappeared. This happens also sometimes with bariatric surgery (stomach stapling). I don’t think it’s known whether they have really -cured- diabetes or it’s just a much easier problem to control when you’re not so fat.

I wouldn’t have voted for Huckabee but I trust him and I think he comes off as sincere and relatively honest. I don’t think he would just make up a story like this. But I’ve heard the same thing elsewhere from people who have lost a lot of weight. Unfortunately that option isn’t available to those of us diabetics who are not grossly overweight. 8^<

Said he quit eating sugar and fried food and started exercising. Ate healthy, not so much, and nothing that came through a fast-food window.

I don’t know about Huckabee, but I was diagnosed with Diabetes and placed on medication. I replaced the medication with a low carb diet, exercises and weight loss.
Apple cider vinegar also helps me keep sugar levels down. I have talked to many others who have overcome diabetes.
There is such a thing as pre-diabetes and can usually be controlled by diet and lifestyle changes.

there is no cure for diabetes, it can only be controlled. Once you have it you have it for life.
