What to use to replace coffee beans in wedding centerpiece?
Feb 18th, 2010 by Coffee Lover
I have seen centerpieces at weddings that use coffee beans and they look very elegant. But, I am wondering in place of coffee beans What could have been used but still be brown and cheap?
There is nothing wrong with coffee beans. I just like to be slightly different.
You can also buy decorative/hobby sand in dark brown. I used sand instead of a unity candle for my wedding ceremony and I had dark brown, dark orange and deep red. I found the sand in pretty big containers at Wal-mart for pretty cheap.
I really like the look of the coffee bean, is there anything else that you can change to be different and leave the coffee beans as part of the center pieces? That way things will be a little more like you, but still be different at the same time? Sometimes there are other things that are easier to change out on center pieces. I used round pillar candles on square mirrors for my center pieces. I also had hurricane lamps mixed in and we lit every single candle. there were A TON, but it looked beautiful!

What about another type of bean, small woodchips, pine cones or sand (may be too light)? What was wrong with the coffee beans though?

Maybe scented Potpourri? Or pine cones. If you live in a rural area, go outside and see what you can find.
What about wooden beads? Your best bet is to go to a few craft stores like Michael’s or Ac Moore and look around.

I used to work at a craft store.
It depends on what time of year your wedding is. If you are having an autumn wedding, you could use acorns or pine cones. For any time of year, gems(they can be picked up very inexpensively through any craft store), silk ribbon, sequins, broken glass, wood beads, feathers etc…Really the possibilities are endless. You could even fill them with brown M&M’s so people can snack. Have fun and make it original. Don’t worry about making it just how you saw it in a picture. It will look gorgeous no matter what. Here are a few ideas.
Look how great these look full of pinecones.

I recently was at a wedding where the bride did this. She filled the hurricanes with water and flower petals like the picture, but then she had floating candles on top. It lookeg gorgeous.

brown glass beads, the kind that people put in the bottom of fish bowls. They are usually in the vase section of Wal-Mart and other stores. I think that would look very nice and elegant since they are glass.

Married almost 4 months.
Ask yourself what the centerpieces at the last 5 weddings you attended were like.
Can’t remember?
There’s your answer.

Chocolate covered raisins! They look almost exactly alike, they’re cheap, and they’re delicious! Actually, if you wanted to, you could even use smaller containers (vases, bowls, etc.) and fill them with the raisins and then after the wedding, people could have them as favors! If your worried abot them melting, just freeze them before your big day. Congratulations and good luck!

I agree with the person who asked about remembering what the centerpieces were for past weddings. However, if you still want to know, I would use M&M’s

Hi. You could use rocks that you can purchase at any craft store such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.
OR…you could use beads….but this might get expensive depending on how tall your vases are.
The idea with the jelly beans was a good one….or how about the brown M&M’s?
The thing is….if you want cheap, the coffee beans are probably going to be your best bet.

Just regular dry beans from a bulk store. You are bound to find some in a colour you want – pinto, black, etc.

If it’s a casual, unique wedding, try cocoa puffs! I saw this at a little girls birthday party.
