The problem we have …
The problem we have is terminology, lactation refers to mammory glands, some birds including flamingos and pigeos as well as chickens produce what is known as crop milk. BOTH parents produce the secretion, its nothing like milk but serves the same purpose, like with mammals also different birds have different concentrations of different chemicals and substances (like fat and protein) in their milky secretions. Unlike with birds only female mammls can lactate. so lets not confuse the two again =p
