Cooking Easter Dinner for a Diabetic?
I’m cooking Easter Dinner for my grandfather who is a diabetic. I don’t totally know what he can and can’t eat. Any good ideas for sides and desserts?
Everything is good except sugary things.

Make desserts as you would for the rest of the family. I always count my grams of carbohydrate and compensate for the dessert I anticipate. I want real desserts not the junk food the ADA says is good for us with all that flour and no salt or fats in it. It tastes horrid and isn’t much lower in carbohydrates than regular desserts.
Your best bet is to call Granddad and ask him what he would like for side dishes and dessert! He will take it as a compliment to his longevity to be catered to. But don’t make "diabetes friendly" anything.
I will be having Key LIme Cheesecake with whipped cream topping for dessert. So I can have just half as much as you can! At least I can treat myself the way I feel I should be treated.
